INVISALIGN • CLEAR INVISIBLE BRACES
|
|||
Invisalign uses a series of clear plastic aligners which gradually move your teeth into proper alignment. This is the modern alternative to metal braces, in many but not all cases. We can quickly determine if you would be a candidate. If you have had orthodontic relapse, Invisalign can be particularly useful and frequently takes less time than going back into braces. Invisalign is a fabulous new alternative to traditional metal braces. Dr. Smith is a certified Invisalign provider. For adults with orthodontic relapse, Invisalign can be a great alternative to having braces again. Although Invisalign is not ideal for all types of tooth straightening, it can actually work better and faster than metal braces for certain types of crowding and gapping. Invisalign involves wearing a series of clear “aligners” for two weeks per set, upper and lower. Each aligner set nudges your teeth a fraction of the way toward your end goal. Many Orthodontists are including Invisalign in their practices because it can work better than braces in some people. Our screening process involves a thorough examination and any necessary xrays first, during which Dr. Smith can tell if you may be a good candidate. If you are interested in proceeding we set up an appointment to make impressions with a vinyl material, make photos, take measurements and send them to a laboratory in California. The impressions are computer scanned to make an electronic record of your teeth. Then a CAD program is applied to the 3D “electronic impressions” of your teeth. Their computer calculates all of the predicted movements, and they email us an AVI file showing predicted results, how many aligners are needed and how long it will take. Then, if needed, you come back for a consultation to see the AVI movie of your predicted results, and you are able to see ahead of time what to expect.
