My main job is patient flow, getting them in and through their procedures and then getting them out and seeing to their insurance and payment needs. What appeals to me about my job here is that I have one-on-one access to patients, and I have some say in the process.

I get to treat the patient as a person, and to find out what they want, as well as what they need. They’re not just a number. I love my job. Oh, my god, they’d have to drag me kicking and screaming from here.

On several occasions, a patient comes in with a “dirty mouth,” with their head down, gloomy, and by the time they’re through their head is up, they’re smiling, alert and outgoing. It touches my heart and has often brought tears to my eyes. There’s a sincerity in it that the patients feel, they know that we care about them.

Then there’s Tony and Bruce. It’s hard for me to put into words, but they always do the right thing, whether it’s for the patients or the staff. There’s no bureaucracy, no politics, it’s just patient-centric.

The staff are unbelievable. The clinicians are caring and so professional. Melissa has a caring and a jolliness about her. We get involved in our patients’ lives and they get involved in ours. It’s like a family here.

Then there’s the physical nature of the place. It’s like being invited into someone’s home, it’s not like walking into a cold, clinical dentist’s office.
